Dragoș PĂTRAȘCU (b. 1956, Florești, Romania) is an artist. He studied at the George Enescu University of Arts, the Arts and Design Faculty, where he graduated in 1980. In his last year of studies, he had his first solo exhibition, which was very well-received by critics in the field. He has been a permanent member of U.A.P. Romania since 1990. Since 2000, as well as a Professor in the Department of Graphics at the University of Arts from Iași. In 2004, he earned a Ph.D. in aesthetics, with the thesis Filosofia artei în estetica lui Arthur Danto (The Philosophy of Art in Arthur Danto’s Aesthetics). Between 1993 and 1998 he was the President of the Union of Fine Artists (U.A.P.) in Iasi; currently he is a member of the U.A.P. Board, in Iași, and a permanent member of the U.A.P. Board in Romania. His creative work covers many fields and are expressed using different techniques: drawing, engraving, painting, object, installation art. Between 1980 and 2018, he had many solo exhibitions; starting with 1990, he has presented his works in Austria, Italy, France, Germany, and Israel. Dragoș Pătrașcu has taken part in more than 200 group exhibitions in Romania and abroad (Russia, Canada, Germany, Hungary, Brazil, Czech Republic, Croatia, Republic of Moldova). He has received many national awards, among which the Order of Cultural Merit, as a Knight, for his entire artistic activity. In 2016 he received the Graphic Art Award given by the Romanian Union of Plastic Artists. Since 1996, he has been the curator of the national exhibition Erotica and the National Drawing Salon. His works can be seen in art museums in Romania (Iași, Bârlad, Vaslui), as well as in many private collections in Europe and U.S.A.
