IOANA NICOLAIE (b. 1974, Sângeorz-Băi, Bistrița-Năsăud County) is a Romanian writer. After graduating “George Coșbuc” High School in Năsăud she attended the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest, which she graduated in 1997. M.A. of the same faculty (1998). After graduation, she worked as a journalist and in the editorial field (as an editor, she worked for Casa Radio, Polirom, and Paralela 45 publishing houses). She teaches Romanian and Creative writing and holds creative workshops for children. A moderator of the Campionatul poveștilor (Story Championship) at the Cişmigiu Humanitas Bookshop for two years. A member of the Writers’ Union and PEN Romania. Her first published book is the poetry volume Retouched Photo (2000). Published volumes: The North, (2002), The Faith (2003), Belly Sky (2005), Cenotaph (2006), Arik’s Adventures (children’s book, 2008), A Bird on the Wire (2008), Arik and the Mercenaries (children’s book, 2013), Self-immunity (2013), Ferbonia (children’s book, 2015), Black Absinth (2017).
